SG Spirit Gold Announces Board Changes

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 7, 2011) - SG Spirit Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SG) ("Spirit Gold" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that Ms. Evelyn Cox was appointed a Director of the Company on September 6, 2011. Ms. Cox has over ten years experience in the mineral exploration sector. She is the current Vice President of Corporate Development of Crosshair Exploration & Mining Corp and Executive Vice President Corporate Development of EGM Exploration Group Management Corp. Ms. Cox holds a B. Sc. (Honours) in Geology and a minor in German from UBC and has also completed the Economic Guidelines for Mineral Exploration course at Queen's University. Spirit Gold is very pleased that Ms. Cox has agreed to add her knowledge, experience and network of relationships to its Board of Directors.

The Company also announces that Mr. Gordon Turner has this date (September 7, 2011) resigned from its Board of Directors. A long time director of the Company Mr. Turner also contributed significantly to the management of Spirit Gold as Vice President Exploration and later President. The Board of Directors and management of Spirit Gold would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Mr. Turner for his years of dedicated service to the Company.
