SG Spirit Gold Inc. Announces Appointment of CFO

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 14, 2011) - SG Spirit Gold Inc. ("Spirit Gold" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Laura Forsythe as Chief Financial Officer of the Company effective July 14, 2011. Ms. Forsythe brings a wide range of experience to her new role. Ms. Forsythe began her career with CIBC Wood Gundy in 1997 and later joined Canaccord Capital in their Private Client division. In 2004 Ms. Forsythe joined the board of directors of Aumega Discoveries Ltd. and became that company's Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Forsythe brings the benefits of extensive experience in the day-to-day operations of public companies and is well versed in the operations of public markets. Immediately prior to Ms. Forsythe's appointment Richard W. Grayston resigned as interim Chief Financial Officer of Spirit Gold. The board of directors welcomes Ms. Forsythe to Spirit Gold and thanks Richard W. Grayston for his service as interim Chief Financial Officer of the Company.

Spirit Gold reports that it has been advised by the TSX Venture Exchange that the common shares of the Company will be reinstated to trading on the Exchange commencing with the opening of business on Friday, July 15, 2011.
