ShankMeister.com Is the Best of eBay for Golf Clubs... and More

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - There is only a small list of individuals today who have achieved the moniker 'entrepreneur' and given the general public something to strive for. Drew Hester is quickly joining that list. As a college student in 2009, Hester launched a new user-to-user ecommerce website called www.ShankMeister.com.

What makes Hester an entrepreneur is that he was a typical starving college student who had an epiphany and acted on it. He was selling used golf clubs on eBay to make cash, but a spreadsheet he did for a college course showed eBay was taking 22% of his profits. With spreadsheet and idea in hand, Hester created a simple platform: golfers list their used golf clubs for sale as they would on eBay, but ShankMeister wasn't going to nickel and dime them with fees.

Within months, ShankMeister was up and running as a user-to-user nationwide marketplace for golf. Fast forward a year and Hester has put college on hold and the site has grown beyond expectations. "We have over 15,000 clubs for sale, both new and used. By June of this year, we'll have our first six-digit unique visitor month. It feels like our hard work is paying off," Hester says about himself and ShankMeister's four other full-time employees. But ShankMeister is more than the sum of its transactions.

"ShankMeister is about the sellers and the buyers," Hester is quick to note. "It's about ensuring that what you buy on the Internet is really what you get, especially if you're buying it to help your golf game. And it's about sellers making the money they deserve whether they're selling used golf clubs or innovative golf products. It's simple marketing at ShankMeister. It is about community not rhetoric."

ShankMeister's vision provides visitors a resource to peruse the site and find different and diverse golf items. One-stop shopping allows a user to check out the newest golf gadgets and gifts, or more traditional items ranging from Scotty Cameron putters, replacement irons, or last year's TaylorMade driver all while in the comfort of their home. And on the flip side, enterprising newcomers can sell their wares using a convenient storefront point of sale application from ShankMeister. By satisfying the demand for the golf buyer and seller, ShankMeister is processing upwards of a hundred transactions a day.
