Shape Security Names Former Cisco GM Gururaj Singh VP of Engineering

Brings Deep Cloud Infrastructure and Security Expertise to World-Class Executive Team


MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 19, 2012) - Shape Security, a startup developing a new class of web security technology, today announced that Gururaj Singh has joined the company's executive team as Vice President of Engineering and will lead engineering efforts to build the company's global security network and line of high-performance appliances.

Singh previously served as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Data Center Operations for Zscaler, where he was responsible for the worldwide engineering team delivering market-leading web security solutions. Before Zscaler, he was General Manager of the $500MM Application Delivery business unit at Cisco Systems where he managed a global team of 500 engineers.

Singh brings more than 25 years of experience to his role at Shape. He joined Cisco in 2000, when it acquired Netiverse, where he was co-founder and CEO. He previously held various engineering roles at three other startups -- Berkeley Networks, Centillion Networks and Adaptive Corporation, which were each acquired by FORE Systems (Ericsson), Bay Networks (Nortel) and Network Equipment Technologies (Sonus), respectively. He received his B.Tech. in Electronics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara. He is the inventor of multiple patents in networking and security.
