Shaw Communications Service Update

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct. 15, 2014) - Shaw Communications Inc. today announced that it expects the vast majority of customers affected by the recent outage caused by a fire in downtown Calgary will receive Shaw services once power is restored. Customers closest to the source of the fire and damaged fibre are expected to have services available the day after power has been restored.

"For the past several days, our technicians have been working alongside Enmax crews and city officials to repair damage caused by the fire to bring as many customers back online within the Calgary downtown area," says Ron McKenzie, Vice President, Operations, Shaw Communications. "These technicians will continue to work throughout the evening to bring services back online as quickly as possible."

The fire that occurred on Saturday evening affected Shaw Internet, television and home phone services. Today, approximately 2,600 residential customers and less than 50 business customers remain without Shaw services. The vast majority of these customers have also been without power in their homes or places of business.

All Calgary residents and visitors continue to have access to the Shaw Go WiFi Guest Network to help them stay connected during the power outage. This connection will give residents access to timely news and information, and help them stay in touch with friends and loved ones.

Customers experiencing continued outages can contact Shaw customer support at 1 (888) 472-2222 or visit Shaw.ca and click the "Calgary power outage restoration details" link for up-to-date information.

As power is restored to the downtown core, Shaw will also be deploying service technicians to provide any customer assistance as needed.
