CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct. 17, 2013) - With Calgarians heading to the polls next week, Shaw TV Calgary is giving viewers extensive municipal election coverage with Election 2013. Airing commercial-free this Monday, October 21, Election 2013 kicks off with a special preview at 7:30pm MT, followed by full coverage from 8pm MT until all results are in, making Shaw TV Calgary the home of uninterrupted municipal election coverage. Shaw TV Calgary airs on Channel 10.
Led by on-air personalities Erin Strate and Phoenix, Election 2013 will include up-to-the-minute poll results from all 14 Calgary Wards as voters cast their ballots for both Councilor and School Board Trustee roles. Shaw TV Calgary will have reporters live, on-location from the election headquarters of incumbent Mayor Naheed Nenshi as well as former alderman and MLA Jon Lord. Election 2013 will also carry regular voting updates from the outlying communities of Strathmore, Chestermere, High River, Okotoks, Airdrie, Crossfield, Carstairs, Didsbury, Cochrane, Canmore and Banff.
Election 2013 will bring viewers analysis and commentary from an expert panel of guests, including Keith Brownsey, Mount Royal University political science PhD Professor, and award winning columnist and blogger Mike Morrison. Shaw TV Calgary has partnered with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to have four Broadcast Journalism students assist producers out in the field, ensuring viewers are kept up to date on all the key election storylines as they happen, while highlighting the station's dedication to community programming and the training of volunteers.
Exclusive Election 2013 live streaming coverage, as well as online reports and additional context will made available throughout the evening at shaw.ca/elections. Once election results are in, Shaw TV Calgary will compliment its coverage with a 30-minute special Election 2013 Results Recap, airing 12am MT, and repeating until 12pm MT the following day.
