Shaw and ViaWest Partner with Console, Giving Customers Greater Connectivity and Security When Connecting to Public Cloud Providers

New partnership gives customers secure connection to cloud partners, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure

CALGARY, ALBERTA and DENVER, COLORADO and SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwired - July 26, 2016) - Shaw Data Centre and Cloud Solutions and ViaWest today announced a partnership with Console designed to enhance the efficiency and security of customer connections to global public cloud providers through Console's leading interconnectivity platform.

Available today, this new partnership will allow businesses to avoid open networks by connecting directly to hyper-scale cloud providers through Shaw and ViaWest data centres.

This direct link will improve the quality of this connection through guaranteed bandwidth, increased speed, lower latency, and the ability to access one or more cloud providers through a single connection. Avoiding the open Internet will also ensure connections are less vulnerable to network congestion and at less risk of potential security issues including network hijacking, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

"Our Console partnership extends our network and a reliable connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure clouds with privacy, speeds, and costs businesses can count on," explained David Lod, Vice President and General Manager, Shaw Data Centre & Cloud Solutions. "This partnership simplifies cloud integration in a Hybrid IT plan to suit different IT workloads."

Shaw and ViaWest data centres will be Console-enabled starting with the Calgary location and followed by the Denver, Dallas, Portland, Las Vegas and Phoenix data centres later this year.

"As enterprises scale services on the cloud, security remains a top priority," said Al Burgio, Founder & CEO of Console. "Our interconnection platform offers a wider range of secure private connections to a global ecosystem of cloud services."

Console provides businesses with a single connection to a global cloud without needing to set up multiple or different connections.

"Console has disrupted the complexity of hyper-scale connections in a time when business infrastructure is becoming increasingly complex," said Tim Parker, Vice-President, Cloud & Network Services, ViaWest. "Interconnecting simply and cost-effectively is critical as we assist enterprises through their Hybrid IT solution design."
