Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion Contest Brings Together Family Members Across Canada (Surrey)

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2011) - The Allison family of Surrey will have the chance to reunite, thanks to Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion Contest.

The contest launched online at www.togetherisamazing.com on November 29, inviting Canadians to create a virtual scrapbook page sharing their story of why they wanted to reunite their family. More than 5,000 Canadians created family scrapbooks and shared their incredible stories. Ten deserving families were chosen by a panel of judges and will have the opportunity to create their dream family reunion valued up to $25,000.

Each and every summer, the Allison family would make the four-hour long drive to their grandparents summer cottage in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. This cottage was a special place where no matter how long you had been gone or how far you have travelled, you could always count on two things: you were expected to help bring the dock in, and you were among family – the Allison family. With each passing year, visits to the cottage grew few and farther between. After their grandfather passed away and their grandmother suffered a stroke, the decision was made to sell the cottage. Without the cottage as a central meeting point, the Allison family hasn't been together in the same place since.

"Being together seem even more important now, since my dad has been battling esophageal cancer," said Marissa Allison, one of Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion winners. "Bringing together our family for the first time in years would be so special. The Allison bond is strong, but given the chance, I know the Allison's can prove that together, truly is amazing."

Shaw's Amazing Family Reunion contest will give the Allison family a chance to come together once again and reignite the family bond that makes them so special.
