Shear Diamonds Ltd. Announces Vice President of Exploration and VP of Operations

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 10, 2011) - Shear Diamonds Ltd. ("Shear") (TSX VENTURE:SRM) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Burgess has been appointed as Shear's new Vice President Exploration and Fred Mason as Shear's new Vice President Operations.

Ms. Burgess has over 18 years mineral exploration experience specializing in diamonds. She was an integral member in the development of the Diavik Diamond Mine, and has managed many diamond exploration projects in northern Canada, including Shear's Churchill Diamond Project and most recently Peregrine's Chidliak Diamond Project on Baffin Island. Ms. Burgess has a B.Sc. Honours in Geological Sciences from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and is a registered Professional Geologist with NAPEGG.

Fred Mason has over 37 years of experience with senior mining companies. Prior to joining Shear, he was Vice President of Operations for Starfield Resources and their Ferguson Lake Project located in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut. He was Construction Manager for Newgold Inc, located near Kamloops BC, Vice President and General Manager at Kinross Gold Corporation's Refugio project near Copiapo, Chile, and General Manager of the Pascua Lama project for Barrick Gold Corporation, situated on the border of Chile and Argentina. Mr. Mason was also Vice President of Operations and Senior Manager of Mining for Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Inc. in Indonesia and General Manager at the Toquepala Area for Southern Peru Copper, now known as Southern Copper Corporation. Mr. Mason has bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering from University of Saskatchewan.
