Shear Wind Inc.: Environmental Studies Update - Alberta Projects

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA AND CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 18, 2008) - Shear Wind Inc. ("Shear Wind") (TSX VENTURE:SWX) is updating shareholders on the Alberta based wind generation projects located at various locations in Alberta. The three projects are Glenridge Wind Farm (Phase I -100 MW, Phase II 100 MW) in southeast Alberta, Coyote Ridge (Phase I -120MW, Phase II - 380 MW) in the south, and Willowridge (100 MW) in the southwest.

Consultants have been engaged to study the environmental impacts of building a wind facility at each of the proposed sites with study activities taking place over the past two years. Shear Wind is pleased to report the completion of these studies. The studies have included environmental aspects including the various environmental characteristics of soil, water and species, and also included community based features as socio-economic conditions, aboriginal heritage and other cultural resources.

Next steps are to submit these studies to the provincial and federal environmental authorities for approvals. The first submission will be that of Glenridge Wind Facility which is a confirmed 100 MW opportunity in southeast Alberta, approximately 60 miles north of Medicine Hat.

Mike Magnus, President and CEO states, " Glenridge will be our first Alberta project into construction and we are moving quickly to obtain all the necessary approvals over the winter months, with the expectation that we will have turbines up and turning by late 2010 in Alberta."

"This is an extremely important step in the development of our extensive cross-Canada wind development pipeline. With construction in Nova Scotia and Alberta we feel our diversity of project siting and growth strategy has been instrumental in establishing the value inherent in our pipeline."
