Shift Networks Launches Canada's Most Advanced Business VoIP & IP Communications Network

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 7, 2006) - Shift Networks Inc. (TSX VENTURE:SHF) announced today the launch of Shift 2.0, the Company's next generation Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network for Canadian businesses. Shift 2.0 service will be available, effective immediately, in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria, providing business customers in these markets with an advanced suite of business communications services and world-class stability and reliability.

"Shift 2.0 is an important step forward for Shift and for Canadian businesses," said Shift Networks CEO Trent Johnsen. "Shift 2.0 offers features and functionality previously unavailable to small and medium businesses. It is enterprise class business communications delivered on a subscription basis for a low monthly fee. It enables Shift customers to save time and money, and increase productivity in a market segment that drives the Canadian economy."

Shift 2.0 provides businesses with unique features and benefits far beyond the capabilities of the traditional switched telephone network of the 20th century. These include:

- Easy integration of the business desk phone with cell phones and mobile devices for reduced long distance charges and outbound minute usage.

- Integration of the phone and the PC, so that Shift subscribers can make calls simply by clicking a contact in their Outlook address book, manage call settings from a simple toolbar within Outlook or a web browser, and see on-screen notifications of incoming calls.

- Complete control of the phone system from any web browser, so that businesses can add new lines and services without delays or service charges.

Shift 2.0 uses SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to deliver standards-based flexibility, robustness and scalability. Geographically dispersed, dual-redundant data centres within a private WAN (Wide Area Network) make up the core of Shift 2.0 and ensure "best in class" reliability and QoS (Quality of Service) for every Shift subscriber.

Shift 2.0 also significantly improves Shift's cost of access to the traditional public telephone network, and allows Shift to offer a wider range of premium, multi-line IP business telephone handsets with cost reductions of more than 60 per cent as compared to the hardware previously provided to subscribers.

"Shift 2.0 isn't just about better technology, it's about giving more control to Canadian business customers," said Erik Lagerway, Shift's Chief Technology Officer. "The innovative design of Shift's new network ensures the reliability and Quality of Service Canadian businesses deserve. This new network has been built to deliver best in class business VoIP but that is only the tip of the iceberg. We have created a world-class IP Communications network that provides a foundation for many innovative and exciting new applications Shift will provide to complement and add value to our business phone service."
