Shine Holdings Files Provisional Patent for Hormone Removal

CARY, NC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 9, 2007 -- Shine Holdings, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SHDG) today announced the filing of a provisional patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for hormone removal in water. The process uses an ultra high-efficiency ozone process for eliminating EDCs (Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals), as well as waterborne hormones and other compounds of emerging concern.

The unintended human ingestion of hormones in drinking water has been implicated in early onset of puberty, reproductive diseases in women, and deterioration in human male fertility. Studies on EDC effects on human physiology are intense and ongoing. In the United States many laws include EDCs and hormones, such as the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Toxic Substances Control Act.

Shine CEO Brett Swailes stated: "In at least seven separate scientific studies since 2002, ozone is cited for its intense effect in hormone removal and EDC elimination. The technology forms the foundation for a pioneering line of future products. With this provisional patent, we are laying the groundwork to create significant intellectual property. This development enables the Company to pursue licensing agreements to collect equitable royalties for myriad other related applications."

Dennis L. Mast, founder of Clean Water Scientific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shine Holdings, designed this process for use in waters of the world. Mast, an avid skier and sailor, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 33. He feels certain he knows what triggered his illness. As a child growing up on a farm, he explains, he'd been exposed repeatedly to EDCs in the pesticides sprayed from crop-dusting planes. Today Mast works on solving the puzzles of water restoration and reclamation.
