Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians Celebrate One Year Anniversary of Red Hawk Casino

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - December 15, 2009) - The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians is pleased to announce that it will present three checks totaling $7,700,000 to El Dorado County on Tuesday, December 15, at 8 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors meeting at 330 Fair Lane, Building A, Placerville. In keeping with its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the county, the Shingle Springs Band will present a check for $5.2 million, which represents the first of 20 payments to extend Highway 50's HOV lanes both eastbound and westbound from Bass Lake Road to South Shingle Road/Ponderosa Road. Additional checks to be presented include $2 million for the general discretionary fund and $500,000 representing sales taxes collected on retail goods. In addition to the three checks, the Tribe will also make its second payment of $125,000 for public safety.

In addition to its contributions to El Dorado County, the Shingle Springs Band has also donated more than $194,000 in charitable contributions to various organizations in the community including $20,000 donated by the Tribe, $93,000 donated by its Tribal Gaming Authority and $81,000 donated by its Red Hawk Casino. Additionally, Red Hawk Casino employees have dedicated more than 350 volunteer hours in the community.
