Shopguard Systems Announces Two New Retail Security Product Launches

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY and BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - April 7, 2011) - Shopguard Systems Limited, a global leader of retail merchandise security systems has announced the successful introduction of two key retail security products to the US market. VRS -- Visual Retail Security, an in-store interactive merchandising system combining a state of the art Loop Alarm System with an overhead plasma screen that activates based on the products a customer picks up, and Drinkspector, an RF-enabled cap for bottled beverages of all types.

"VRS is an interactive retail environment and combined with our proprietary software raises the bar on visual, in-store merchandising systems, something no other company has been able to match here in the US," said Michael Campbell, recently appointed President of Shopguard USA. "The combination of the display screen with real-time product features and structured manufacturer messages coupled with dynamic user interaction definitely leads to greater sales for our customers. Customers testing the product last week at the GlobalShop industry conference in Las Vegas were drawn to the high degree of interactivity, placing VRS in a category by themselves. We have been in discussions with many of the leading retailers and interest is very strong."

The second product introduction is for the bottled beverages sector, with the introduction of Drinkspector™ an award-winning, patented anti-theft solution for protecting bottled beverages more effectively than ever before. The device uses advanced EAS RF and AM technologies with a universal tool that attaches very quickly to all sizes of product. The combination of the RF device and a special clear cap to prevent opening or dispensing of the product before sale is key to the uniqueness of Drinkspector. Drinkspector was also on display at the GlobalShop industry trade conference.

Shopguard products are currently available through an extensive global dealer and agent network, and will now have an added Boston, Massachusetts location to service customers from. With the addition of this location, Shopguard now has direct subsidiary companies in 14 countries.

"Our growing list of global and brand-name customers throughout the retail world has brought this expansion to the US market. Our RF technology including state of the art antenna theft detection units along with our two new launches this month caps an exciting first quarter of 2011 for Shopguard," said Sandor Ambrus, CEO of Shopguard Systems Limited.

On a related note, Shopguard is pleased to announce the promotion of Andras Somlyody to VP International Sales and Marketing. Ambrus commented that the expansion to the US market is ahead of schedule and due to the efforts of Somlyody. "Andras has been tireless in his efforts to expand the distribution of Shopguard's products around the globe and was instrumental in securing a prestigious design award for Drinkspector. Our success at GlobalShop with leading US retailers is testament of the strong demand for our products, specifically VRS and our fully-powered tablet solutions," said Somlyody. "We are very pleased with the level of traction we have already gained in such a short amount of time."
