ShopIgniter Facebook Stores Attain Higher Conversion Rates Compared to Dot Com Sites During Holiday Season

Social eCommerce Contributes to Record-Breaking $32.6 Billion Spent Online During Holiday Season

The news comes at the heels of comScore data revealing that the 2010 online holiday shopping season reached $32.6 billion in the U.S., marking a 12 percent increase versus last year and an all-time record for the season. For the first time since comScore began tracking e-commerce activity in 2001, Cyber Monday (Monday, Nov. 29) ranked as the heaviest online spending day of the year at $1.028 billion (see: http://www.comscoredatamine.com/2011/01/2010-holiday-online-retail-sales/).

  • 15 percent higher conversion rate on customers driven from a friend in Facebook
  • Two times better conversion on transactions inside of Facebook compared to a company's regular dot com site
  • 8-10% higher transaction value inside of Facebook compared to a regular .com site
