Siebel Systems Names Chief Marketing Officer and Appoints Senior Company Executives to Expanded Leadership Roles

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Jul 7, 2005) -

Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL), the leading provider of customer-facing solutions, today announced the hiring of Patty Azzarello as Chief Marketing Officer and appointed several of the company's senior executives, including Les Rechan, Bruce Cleveland and David Schmaier, to new leadership roles. These executives bring a wealth of industry experience to their new positions at Siebel in key global marketing, sales, product marketing and corporate strategy functions.

"These new appointments will enable Siebel to more effectively drive towards our goals of improving execution and re-igniting license revenue growth and profitability. We are placing some of our most experienced senior executives in expanded roles while also introducing new industry expertise into the company," said George T. Today's appointments include:

-- Patty Azzarello has joined Siebel Systems as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for running Siebel's global marketing operations, which include the company's brand awareness and lead generation programs. Ms. Azzarello has more than 20 years of technology leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Euclid, a business service management software company. Prior to Euclid, she was Chief Marketing Officer of Polycom, a teleconferencing equipment company. In addition, Ms. Azzarello held several senior management positions at HP, including Vice President and General Manager of the OpenView business unit. Before joining HP, she was Vice President of Marketing at PROCASE Corp.

-- Les Rechan has been appointed Senior Vice President, Americas Sales. Mr. Rechan has a strong track record of sales execution and delivering customer value. Mr. Rechan most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager Manufacturing and Distribution Industries at Siebel and has more than 20 years of technology leadership experience at Cadence Design Systems, Onyx Software and IBM. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cadence North America and as President and Chief Operating Officer of Onyx Software, responsible for global sales, marketing, business development, alliances, and services. Previously, he also held industry sales, solutions development and general management positions in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific at IBM.

-- Bruce Cleveland has been named Senior Vice President, Products. Mr. Cleveland, a 25 year veteran of the technology industry including nine years with Siebel Systems, retains responsibility for running Siebel CRM OnDemand, the company's hosted software operations. In his expanded role, he will focus on ensuring Siebel maintains and extends its product leadership in customer-facing solutions. Before Mr. Cleveland ran Siebel CRM OnDemand and SMB, he served as the company's Senior Vice President of Marketing, and also built the Company's Global Alliances program. Prior to Siebel, he held senior leadership positions at Oracle and AT&T.

-- David Schmaier, formerly Executive Vice President in charge of marketing and products, was appointed EVP, Corporate Strategy. In his new role, Mr. Schmaier will continue to work extensively with customers, partners and the executive management team towards the goal of ensuring that Siebel Systems' organic and strategic growth initiatives enhance its industry leadership position and ability to drive value for customers, partners and shareholders. Mr. Schmaier has been with Siebel for 11 years, playing an integral role at the Company almost since its inception.
