Siemens AG Selects SourceForge® Enterprise Edition

Collaborative Development Platform to Accelerate Delivery of IT Development Projects

FREMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 21, 2006 --VA Software Corporation (NASDAQ: LNUX) today announced that Siemens Enterprise Communication, GmbH & Co, a wholly owned subsidiary of Siemens AG, has selected SourceForge Enterprise Edition as its collaborative software development platform. SourceForge will enable Siemens' global teams to better coordinate communications and information sharing amongst its distributed development organization, enabling more agile delivery of software development projects. The benefit will be significant reductions in time to value while increasing quality.

"In order to deliver software on time and with the required feature set, we needed to have a flexible solution that would allow us to remain customer-focused and successfully deploy agile development processes across distributed teams. SourceForge provided us with the optimal solution," said Mr. Wolfgang Strunk, Project Leader OpenSOA Framework for Siemens Enterprise Communications Group.

Siemens Enterprise Communications started development of a new product line for business-focused communications emphasizing unified communications and collaboration. "We not only decided to build it on a new technology as a services-oriented architecture (SOA), but also adopted agile development methods to overcome the challenge of a rapidly changing business and technology environment," said Strunk. "In 2004, we started with a small team of collocated experts and grew rapidly to over 200 staff around the globe. In this process, we quickly saw a critical need for a common integrated platform to coordinate communications and collaboration. We started with a set of non-integrated open source tools and quickly turned to evaluate various existing application lifecycle management solutions. Of all those tested, we selected SourceForge because of its open architecture, flexibility and capability to support all stages of the development life cycle -- including existing and future tools and processes," said Strunk.

"We received excellent support through VA Software's local reseller, ASERVO AG, during our tool evaluation phase. ASERVO supported us in our interaction with their close linkage back to the SourceForge development team. We feel very confident that this relationship will support all our future needs," Strunk adds.

"We are pleased to be selected by Siemens for their application lifecycle management solution. We are off to an excellent start. Our channel partner ASERVO and Siemens are working very well together and our combined objective is to increase the velocity and quality of work created by the Siemens' distributed development teams. As the quantity of SourceForge Enterprise users increase, so will the value returned to the organization," said Darryll Dewan, group president SourceForge Enterprise. "Our scalable solution will help Siemens to overcome the challenges of development and increase their productivity while maintaining selected investments made in their existing IT infrastructure."

SourceForge Enterprise Edition enables organizations to overcome the challenges of geographically distributed development. SourceForge is a secure, centralized application that connects disparate tools and processes together with an integrated suite of project management, change management and collaboration tools for optimizing and managing distributed development, expanding visibility and control, improving development efficiency, and empowering greater collaboration and innovation.
