Siemens-Led Consortium Building $1.5 Billion Power Plant in Germany, an Industrial Info News Alert

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(Marketwire - March 11, 2008) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- An 800-megawatt (MW) combined-heat-and-power (CHP) power plant will be built at Mainz, Germany, by a consortium led by Siemens (NYSE:SI) with Austrian Energy & Environment and Japan's IHI. Advanced technology will allow the plant to attain a high thermal efficiency of 46%. In addition to power generation, the plant will produce 200 MW of heat for up to 40,000 homes in the district and about 30 MW of process steam for industrial plants in Mainz.
