Sierra Geothermal Strengthens Board and Management Team

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) -


Sierra Geothermal Power Corp. (SGP) (TSX VENTURE:SRA) is pleased to announce the appointments of Alfred Sorensen as an independent member of the board of directors and chair of the audit committee, and Lesley Russell as Corporate Secretary.

Mr. Sorensen comes to SGP with a wealth of experience in the energy sector. He is President and CEO of Galveston LNG Inc., a Calgary based company developing a world wide LNG midstream business with projects in Canada, Nigeria and the Middle East. Prior to founding Galveston, Mr. Sorensen was the President of Duke Energy (Europe) Ltd. and was responsible for the development of Duke Energy's European strategy. Mr. Sorensen began his energy trading career with Direct Energy in 1987 and went on to be a partner in Continental Energy Marketing Ltd. which was ultimately sold to Pan Energy Corp. a predecessor company to Duke Energy. Mr. Sorensen is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta.

Ms. Russell, who has an extensive international administrative and legal background, has been with SGP for nearly a year as an executive administrator. Before joining SGP, she served as Administrative Manager at K+F Global Partners Ltd., an international recruitment agency. Ms. Russell holds a bachelor of arts with honors and a bachelor of law from the University of Manitoba and was called to the bar of the Law Society of Manitoba in 1996.
