Sierra Tucson Welcomes Dr. Michael V. Genovese as New Medical Director


TUCSON, AZ--(Marketwired - Aug 19, 2014) - Sierra Tucson, an international leader in the treatment of addictions, eating disorders, mood disorders, complex pain management, and trauma/PTSD, has announced the appointment of Dr. Michael V. Genovese to medical director. As the new medical director, Genovese will work with Sierra Tucson's clinical and medical teams to ensure patients receive best practice treatments that deliver better outcomes.

Before joining Sierra Tucson, Genovese co-founded the Long Island Mind and Body, an integrative practice in Garden City, New York, that focuses on mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia, addiction, and medico-legal issues. He serves as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and The American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. 

Genovese was a Fellow in the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. He completed his adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Connecticut. Prior to attending medical school, Genovese earned a law degree at The University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP).

With a unique background in both law and medicine, Genovese is a respected consultant on mental health and behavioral health topics by multiple organizations, school districts, and for private industry and he is a member of the Professional Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution for the Nassau County Bar Association. He is Of Counsel to the Law Offices of Sullivan and Sullivan, LLP, and he is a member of the New York Bar Association. A well-known lecturer on topics such as psychopharmacology, pharmacogenomics, and neuromodulation, Genovese teaches resident physicians and medical students at Winthrop University Hospital.
