SIGEF 2015, Shaping Better Times to Come, Concludes With a Global Call to Action


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 5, 2015) - NGOs, project holders and a notable line-up of international speakers came together at the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum (SIGEF 2015) -- a three-day international event dedicated to celebrate positivity, diversity, creativity and action worldwide.

Horyou, the social network for social good, and the Horyou Foundation hosted the second edition of the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, Switzerland, Oct. 23 - 25.

For three days, the city of Geneva hosted more than one hundred non-profit organizations from all over the world, together with sixty international speakers, in 14 sessions (plenary and discussion panels), focusing on proposing effective solutions shaping better times to come.

In addition, more than fifty social entrepreneurs, ten of whom came from the UNESCO Youth Forum, attended SIGEF 2015 and shared their innovative projects with the participants. The three awards that were granted are as follows:

  • Winner: Humans Relais (France)
  • Runner Up: Lensational (United Kingdom)
  • Second Runner Up: Kmerpad (Cameroon)

On Sunday, Oct. 25, the SIGEF 2015 Awards ceremony paid tribute to seven outstanding women and men for their exemplary work and contribution to society in seven key areas:
Humanitarian Award: Mr. Christian Michellod - Fondation Moi pour Toit
Arts and Culture Award: Mr. Lassaad Metoui - Artist and Calligrapher
Social Inclusion Award: Mr. Michel Baumann - The Meal
Empowerment Award: Mrs. Souad Dibi - L'Association Féminine de Bienfaisance El Khir (A.F.B.K)
CSR Practices in Sports: Mr. Saud Subaie - AlHilal Saudi Club
Education Award: Mr. Stephen Ritz - Innovator, Educator and Founder of Green Bronx Machine
Philanthropy Promotion Award: Mrs. Peng Jianmei - Executive Secretary General, China Charity Alliance.
A delegation of the China Charity Alliance, whose aim is to promote public understanding of philanthropic culture in China and abroad, flew to Geneva for the occasion and also to participate in the European philanthropic tour organized by Horyou. Also, Dr. Georges Bwelle, founder of ASCOVIME and recipient in absentia of last year's SIGEF 2014 Humanitarian Award was handed by the President of Horyou, Mr. Léon Parienti.
