RONKONKOMA, NY--(Marketwire - October 20, 2009) - Sigma Corporation of America
(www.sigmaphoto.com), a leading researcher, developer, manufacturer and
service provider of some of the world's most impressive lines of lenses, cameras and flashes,
will be exhibiting at the upcoming PDN PhotoPlus
International Conference + Expo from Oct. 22 to 24 at booth 146.
At the event, Sigma will highlight the DP2, the company's 14-mega pixel,
high-definition, digital camera that packs the power of a DSLR into the
body of a point-and-shoot, with a special gallery entitled "Our World:
Awe-Inspiring Images." The gallery's images were captured by elite
photographers Chip Forelli, Paula Lerner, Stephen Mallon and Sean Perry, all of whom were recently
introduced to the DP2 and encouraged to produce unique images that pay
tribute to its outstanding image quality. Their photographs will be
unveiled at the booth and on the Sigma Corporation of
America Web site on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. The link will not be
live until the unveiling.
"Since the release of the Sigma DP2, we've consistently received positive
feedback from photography enthusiasts that tout the exceptional image
quality and access to creative control this camera provides," said Mark
Amir-Hamzeh, general manager of Sigma Corporation of America. "We wanted to
use this forum to present the camera's capabilities in a unique way. By
enlisting the help of these respected photographers, we're able to create a
gallery within our booth that epitomizes the real-life, unparalleled,
three-dimensional effects made possible with the Sigma DP2."
Sigma executives will also be on hand to discuss upcoming initiatives like
the Sigma Corporation of America Scholarship, which is designed to empower
young photographers and help them pursue their photography dreams, as well
as to answer questions about newly released lenses and cameras from the
company's line-up.
Sigma's most recent gear announcement was about the DP1s, which is an
improved version of the DP1 that is expected to be available later this
month. Samples of this camera will be at Sigma Corporation of America's
booth during the PhotoPlus show so visitors can see the enhancements that
have been made to its user interface and the camera's performance when
shooting backlit subjects. The DP1s has the same processor, 14-megapixel
FOVEON X3 direct image sensor and 16.6mm F4 lens as the DP1.
"As a company, there is no greater experience than interacting directly
with the photographers who rely on our lenses, cameras and flashes to
produce exceptional images," said Amir-Hamzeh. "We view this as an
opportunity to further communicate our dedication to providing shooters
with new avenues of expression through innovative designs and a steadfast
commitment to technology."
