Sigma Introduces the sd Quattro and sd Quattro H Mirrorless Cameras and the EF-630 Flash; More Info at B&H Photo Video

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - February 23, 2016) -  B&H Photo would like to share the announcement of the Sigma sd Quattro and sd Quattro H mirrorless digital cameras. They are set apart by sensor size -- the sd Quattro features a 39MP-equivalent APS-C sensor, while the sd Quattro H houses a 51MP-equivalent APS-H sensor. Aside from sensor size, both cameras utilize the unique vertically-stacked Foveon X3 Quattro sensor design that avails immense color detail and clarity, as well as a high degree of image sharpness. A 1:1:4 ratio is applied to this vertical design, which splits the top blue layer into quadrants in order to receive a 30% increase in resolution and detail. Dual TRUE III image processors are also used in both models, to afford a sensitivity range from ISO 100-6400, along with a continuous shooting rate of 3.6 fps for the sd Quattro or 3.8 fps for the sd Quattro H. A 9-point hybrid autofocus system is also available, which can be used in either single or continuous mode to suit working with a variety of subject types.

Both models are characterized by their truly unique physical design, which incorporates dual rear LCD monitors -- a 3.0" 1.62m-dot main monitor for image review and a secondary smaller screen for settings display -- and a 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder with 1.09x magnification. The ergonomic body design affords a great deal of stability and comfort during shooting, and incorporates an SA lens mount for compatibility with the existing series of Sigma Global Vision lenses.

Supporting the sd Quattro cameras, Sigma has also announced the EF-630 Electronic Flash for Sigma, Canon, and Nikon cameras, which offers an auto-adjust zoom range of 24-200mm along with an integrated Wide Panel to cover lenses as wide as 17mm. The adjustable flash head permits -7° to +90° tilt, as well as +/- 180° swiveling for flexible control, and a Slave Flash Function can be used for optical triggering of multiple flashes. Wireless TTL exposure control is supported too, as well as FP Flash high-speed sync, Rear-Curtain Sync, manual control down to 1/128 power, and a modeling flash function which lets you preview lighting effects. Additionally, the flash's firmware is user-upgradeable via the optional Flash USB Dock, in conjunction with Sigma Optimization Pro software.
