Sigma Systems Advances Its Global Sales and Services Strategy

Executive Appointments and Geographic Alignment Will Strengthen Company's Capabilities in Key Regions

TORONTO--(Marketwire - Oct 5, 2012) - Sigma Systems, the authority in provisioning converged broadband IP services, today marked the latest phase in its global sales and services strategy with the announcement of several new executive appointments to support the company's regional alignment. Effective immediately, Jackie Berg has been promoted to VP and managing director for the Americas, Jonathan Smith has been appointed VP and managing director of EMEA and APAC and Mark Flynn has been promoted to AVP, Service and Delivery.

"Sigma has made significant investments in providing our customers with the teams and tools to address their specific challenges and to be competitive in their marketplace," said Tim Spencer, Sigma's president and COO. "These executive appointments will enable us to further align and enhance our regional sales, support and service capabilities, bringing more personalized and strategic support and resources to our customers."

As vice president and managing director of the Americas, Berg will oversee all sales and regional services delivery for North America and CALA. Previously, Berg led the global sales team in developing a strong customer base across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. Berg was also instrumental to the company's expansion into new market segments, including the telco and mobile segments.

Jonathan Smith, Sigma's newly appointed VP and managing director for EMEA and APAC will lead the company's sales and regional services delivery throughout that region. A seasoned sales executive, Smith spent twelve years with Ericsson in roles of increasing responsibility before taking on the role of Managing Director of EMEA at Convergys where he quickly transformed the business and won new customers such as Skype, Ziggo and DHL while expanding existing business with customers such as Virgin and UPC.

"Sigma has achieved significant international growth over the last several years. Under Jackie and Jonathan's leadership, our teams will have the regional resources and focus they need to bring even more value to our customers," said Spencer.

Sigma is also strengthening its solutions delivery and services teams with the promotion of Mark Flynn to associate vice president, services and delivery. Flynn has directed Sigma's technical support and customer training offerings for the past several years. In his new role, Flynn will oversee quality and delivery across the Customer Solutions Development, Project Control Office and Technical Support. Additionally, Flynn will be responsible for a new group focused on Customer Knowledge Management & Training, which will support and collaborate with Sigma teams in each region to create and deploy tools and processes to better enable customers to fully leverage the capabilities of their platform investments in Sigma products.

"Mark has played a key role in the phased restructuring of the support organization over the last several years, which has resulted in improved customer satisfaction and increased operating results," said Spencer.

These executive appointments are part of Sigma's long-term strategy to grow its resources to service its growing roster of telecommunications and cable customers worldwide. Over the last two years, the company has increased its sales and support teams across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia, and expanded its solutions centres in Toronto, Pune and Bangalore. The company has also made significant investments in research and development to expand the capabilities of its Service Management (SMP) and Device Provisioning (DPM) platforms, with the addition of service creation toolkits and technology cartridges, providing service providers with the ability to provision more value added services, including VoIP, mobile, 4G, IP video, FTTH, as well as SaaS or cloud-based services.
