Sigma Systems Joins TM Forum's Oss Through Java "TM" Initiative to Support Order Management Standard

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 17, 2006) - Sigma Systems has joined the OSS through Java initiative (OSS/J), a Technical Program of the TeleManagement Forum, to support the initiative's new Order Management API standard. As a member of the expert group for Java Specification Request (JSR) 264, Sigma Systems, a premier provider and leader in the design, development and deployment of OSS service management solutions, is developing the Order Management API Reference Implementation in all three integration profiles (Java JVT, XML/JMS and Web Services). The Order Management RI is targeted to be completed in May 2007.

An active member of the TeleManagement Forum , Sigma Systems work on the development and maintenance of the OSS/J Order Management API is complementary to the company's existing TM Forum activities.

"We have seen an increased interest from our many customers for the support of industry standards, especially for order submission and management," says Preston Gilmer, VP Product Marketing. "In assessing available standards, we recognize that OSS/J and the TM Forum offer the best industry standards for this requirement and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the success of these standards. We believe these standards will become increasingly important as service providers seek to introduce converged services, such as those facilitated by Sigma System's All Play Solutions, which extend beyond quad-play voice, video, data and mobile services to effectively manage complex OSS service fulfilment processes for subscription, on-demand and event-driven services.

Dedicated to helping telecommunications companies harness the power of their Operations/Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) while containing costs, OSS/J provides APIs and Developer Guidelines that accelerate the development of innovative OSS/BSS solutions (including all-play scenarios) where all applications function together.

"With a proven track record in service management, Sigma Systems is ideally positioned to contribute to OSS/J's integration programs," says Martin Creaner, TM Forum Vice President and CTO. "Being active in the OSS/J's new Order Management API standard development, Sigma Systems will significantly contribute to solutions supporting the effective management of converged next generation telecommunications networks. Their decision to actively contribute resources to OSS/J further attests to the increasing market realization that standards are an important way forward for service providers to be competitive."

OSS/J APIs are standardized under the latest Java Community Processs(SM) (JCP) program and aligned with the TM Forum's Next Generation Operations Systems and Software (NGOSS) framework. The deliverables for each API consist of specifications, reference implementations, and technology compatibility kits - all of which, including source code, are made available free of charge.
