Photography News: Sigma has Introduced a Groundbreaking 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for APS-C DSLRs Along With a Fast and Compact 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Micro Four Thirds & APS-C Sony E cameras

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - February 23, 2016) - B&H Photo would like to share the announcement of the Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens for DSLRs, 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for mirrorless cameras, and MC-11 Mount Adapter for using Canon EF or Sigma SA mount lenses on Sony E mount cameras.

The 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens is another world's first for Sigma, providing APS-C shooters with a 75-150mm equivalent lens that offers a blazing fast f/1.8 constant aperture for shallow depth-of-field effects. This allows shooters to cover three popular short telephoto focal lengths in one convenientpackage: 85mm, 100/105mm, and 135mm. The lens features three FLD and one SLD element along with one high-refractive index and high-dispersion glass element to minimize aberration. The 50-100mm also packs in a Hyper Sonic Motor for speedy, accurate AF and benefits from completely internal zoom and focusing. Additionally, it has a tripod foot for added stability with support systems and will be available in Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sigma SA mounts.

Designed for mirrorless cameras, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary delivers high performance in a compact form. Available for Micro Four Thirds and APS-C Sony E cameras, this lens has a normal equivalent focal length of 60mm and 45mm, respectively. Also, its bright f/1.4 aperture guarantees shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh as well as good low-light performance. It further benefits from the use of one aspherical and one double-sided aspherical element to battle aberration and has a stepping AF motor that will function appropriately during still capture and video recording.

Giving users a way to bring their high-end Global Vision series to the full-frame Sony E system, Sigma has developed the MC-11 Mount Adapter, optimized specifically to handle communication between Sigma lenses and Sony bodies. Made for either Canon EF or Sigma SA mount lenses, this adapter maintains AF performance while ensuring accurate aperture control and image stabilization when used and even features an LED display to show users if a lens is fully compatible or requires an update. Another benefit is the MC-11's internal control system which can help correct for distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. Additionally, it ensures complete EXIF data and has internal flocking to prevent reflections.
