Sikich Investment Banking Leads Recapitalization of FiberLink, LLC

Sikich's Capital Markets Team Successfully Secures Financing From Silicon Valley-Based Bridge Bank for Emerging Technology Firm

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Jan 17, 2012) - Sikich Investment Banking ("Sikich"), headquartered in Chicago, today announced it has successfully completed a recapitalization of FiberLink, LLC, an owner of regional fiber optic routes between Chicago and Denver and Chicago and New Orleans. Sikich served as the exclusive placement agent to FiberLink, securing financing from Silicon Valley-based Bridge Bank. The proceeds were used to recapitalize the company.

Sikich Investment Banking's Capital Markets team specializes in approaching capital markets from a comprehensive and strategic perspective, and designing customized financing structures to help fulfill growth strategies for clients at acceptable levels of risk. The team, led by Mark Solovy, head of the Capital Markets group, worked closely with FiberLink's management to structure the transaction, prepare offering materials, conduct the financing process, assist with investor due diligence, and ultimately negotiate the terms of the final transaction.

"Mark and his Sikich colleagues have a very broad network of investor relationships, as well as financing expertise with emerging growth companies," said Kenneth D. Anderson, Chairman of FiberLink. "The team clearly understands the unique characteristics and challenges of emerging growth technology companies in accessing the ever-changing competitive capital markets, and was able to structure a transaction with terms which were advantageous for FiberLink."

Sikich Investment Banking's technology team has built one of the country's premier practices specializing in mergers and acquisitions and private capital fundraising advisory services for emerging growth technology companies. During the past year, the Firm has provided advisory services on some of the largest emerging growth technology transactions in the Midwest, including the sale of Zave Networks to Google, Inc. These transactions involving Silicon Valley based firms buying and financing Midwest-based companies have helped to further deepen the growing venture capital connections between Silicon Valley and the Midwest.

"Given the tremendous growth of the tech industry in Chicago and the Midwest, there is an enormous opportunity for a new breed of boutique Midwest-based advisory firms focused on the global technology sector," said Al DaValle, Partner at JK&B Capital, a Chicago-based venture capital firm with more than $1.1 billion under management which focuses on the communications and software market. "The transactions Sikich has engineered are a validation of that opportunity and are an important development in the region's tech financing environment."

"The emerging technology sector will continue to be a focus for our Capital Markets group and the entire firm," said Solovy, who in addition to leading the Capital Markets team, also lectures on venture capital financing at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. "The transaction process for emerging growth technology companies is unique and our team is very well-versed in working through the complexities of that environment for the benefit of our clients."

"Our technology practice has gained increasing national prominence," said Christopher Geier, Partner-In-Charge for Sikich Investment Banking. "We have extensive transaction experience in the technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences sectors. Successfully advising on the FiberLink transaction further solidifies our track record of execution on some of tech's most interesting and lucrative deals."
