Silicon Valley Entrepreneur Kathy Down-Logan Transfers Color-Matching System IP to X-Rite

System Makes It Possible for Consumers to Scan Almost Anything -- a Pillow, Swatch of Material or Carpet Sample -- Into a Computer and Find Matching or Coordinating Fabric at Retailers Such as La-Z-Boy

LOS ALTOS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 21, 2005 -- DSSC, founded by Kathy Down-Logan, today announced the completion of the transfer of the company's color-matching products, technology and other associated IP and customers to X-Rite, Inc. of Grandville, Michigan. The transfer included the E-Z-Color™, Digital Style™, and Web-based Advanced Color Search software and SDK.

"Product color is the major criteria for the consumer in a major segment of the U.S. retail industry and statistics show that a majority of the 50 percent of shoppers who leave a store without making a purchase would have bought something if they had found the right color," said Down-Logan, CEO of DSSC. "The products X-Rite has acquired from DSSC have created an innovative breakout, sales and marketing service in the home furnishings sector because they remember and match colors to products in inventory, which takes the guessing out of the selection process for consumers."

The products will be rolled out to major retailers in 2006. A Web-based version of the product has been operating online at sites such as since 2002. Seed round investors in DSSC included La-Z-Boy Inc., X-Rite Inc., and IDEO.
