MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 23, 2012) - Appcelerator®, the leading mobile platform, announced today that it will host a "Hack to Help" Hackathon as part of its CODESTRONG 2012 Mobile Conference. The goal of the all-night hackathon is to help charities accelerate their fundraising efforts by tapping into the power of mobile apps.
CODESTRONG 2012 will gather 500+ mobile developers and executives to the InterContinental San Francisco on October 21-22nd for two days of executive keynotes, breakout sessions, and networking with a "who's who" of the mobile community. All CODESTRONG attendees are invited to participate in Hack to Help on Sunday, October 21st, the day before the conference.
Hack to Help participants will form 12 teams, and each team will be matched with a charity. The teams will work through the night to create mobile apps that will leverage the power of mobile to accelerate the charities' fundraising efforts.
"Our developers are some of the most talented on the planet, and we're thrilled to bring them together to give back to charity in such a big way," said Jeff Haynie, CEO of Appcelerator. "We in the mobile community are incredibly fortunate to be able to do what we enjoy and make a great living at it. It's very satisfying to be able to show our gratitude in this way."
"I am very excited that my fans will have the opportunity to give back from the convenience of their mobile phones!" said Avril Lavigne, Founder and President of The Avril Lavigne Foundation. "I think an app will be a great way for them to help make a difference and to follow all the great things we do for sick or disabled children and youth. I am very grateful to all of the developers who are participating in Appcelerator's Hack to Help and I can't wait to see the final results!"
