Silicon Valley Startup Launches Site for Hardware Designers to Choose Components Quickly

GPiO Measures Each Component Objectively, Cutting Weeks out of the Product Design Cycle for Hardware Designers

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - June 09, 2015) - GPiO Inc. (, a venture-backed startup based in Silicon Valley, has launched a website that helps engineers and hardware designers go beyond traditional datasheets, allowing them to compare hardware components from leading vendors with just a couple of clicks. The company objectively tests each individual component in its own lab and posts the comparison data and test details on their site, which is currently free. Using this data, engineers can quickly identify the components that best fit their criteria, significantly reducing the time and frustration involved in doing this same research on their own.

GPiO's first major component category, microphones, was publicly released today. This category includes performance data on more than 60 analog, digital, ECM, and MEMS microphones from leading vendors. The next category, battery management ICs, will be available later this summer, with other categories in the audio, power, RF, and general electronics space to follow.

"Component search and qualification today is painful and time-consuming. As an engineer, I struggled to quickly and easily identify components that met the specific size, cost, and performance constraints needed," said Sagar Savant, co-founder and CEO of GPiO. "I started GPiO to help fellow engineers evaluate more components and vendors accurately, and in less time."

The GPiO team includes hardware and software veterans from companies like Palm, Lab126, HP, Beats by Dre, Bose, Plantronics, Maxim, Linear Tech, Raytheon, and Pivotal Labs. Their lead investor is Newfund Capital.
