Siluria Technologies Announces the Appointment of Karl Kurz as Chairman of the Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - July 30, 2014) - Siluria Technologies, a pioneer in the commercial production of fuels and chemicals made from clean and abundant natural gas, announced today the appointment of Karl Kurz as Chairman of its board of directors effective June 23, 2014. Kurz has been a Siluria board member since July 2013. He replaces Leighton Read, M.D., of Alloy Ventures, who served as board chairman since the company's inception in 2007. Read will continue as a Siluria Board member.

Kurz most recently was a managing director with CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC and co-head of its Energy Group from September 2009 to September 2012. Previously, Kurz served as the COO for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation from December 2006 through March 2009. There he had responsibility for global exploration and production, marketing, midstream, land, technology, and engineering services. Kurz began his career with ARCO Oil & Gas Company, where he held various upstream roles. Kurz holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University, and an Advanced Management degree from Harvard University. Kurz has served on the Board of Directors of Chaparral Energy LLC, and Newark Energy LLC, the Natural Gas Supply Association, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He also served on the board of Western Gas Partners (WES) and currently serves on the board of SemGroup Corporation (SEMG) and Global Geophysical Corporation (GGS).

In addition to his Board Chair duties, Kurz will assume a senior leadership role in partnering with CEO, Ed Dineen, to drive the strategy and formation of Siluria's midstream business.

"We are delighted to have Karl assume the chairman position at this exciting and pivotal time for Siluria," said Siluria CEO Ed Dineen. "I look forward to working with Karl and the board in moving Siluria into the commercialization phase. His background and experience is complementary to mine considering the breadth of opportunities created by our platform technology, especially in accelerating our efforts on midstream opportunities."

"I joined Siluria as a board member as I was greatly impressed with the technology and potential," said Kurz. "Now having been associated with the company for a while, I am even more convinced and excited about its future. I look forward to working with Ed and the management team to make this future a reality."

"We also want to thank Leighton for his service and leadership to date," said Dineen. "We look forward to his continued contributions as a board member."

About Siluria:
Siluria Technologies is pioneering the commercial production of fuels and chemicals made from clean, abundant natural gas. Siluria's break through Oxidative Coupling of Methane (OCM) process technology is believed to be the first commercially viable process to directly convert methane to ethylene. Siluria's second process technology can convert ethylene to liquid fuels such as gasoline, diesel or jet fuel. This enables natural gas to potentially supplement petroleum as the worldwide basis for transportation fuels and commodity chemicals. Siluria's revolutionary catalyst and process technologies uniquely combine nanomaterials, templating and chemical engineering, to convert natural gas into higher value products using efficient processes that can be seamlessly integrated into existing industry infrastructure. www.siluria.com
