Silvus Technologies to Showcase Enabling High-Speed Wireless Broadband Capabilities for Both 802.11n and Wireless HD Video

What: Silvus Technologies, a leading provider of broadband wireless semiconductor IP solutions in 802.11n, wireless HD video, and tactical military systems, will showcase technology demonstrations and lead in-depth discussion sessions, both of which feature technology-proven wireless broadband capabilities within the company's solution portfolio.

Silvus' broadband wireless IP solutions provide enhanced wireless data throughput, wireless interference mitigation, advanced MIMO technology -- up to 4x4, anti-jamming via spatial cancellation, and Quality of Service (QoS) improvement for support of wireless HD video transmissions.

Demonstration: The demo will address three key areas with respect to wireless broadband deployments. The first part of the demo will display the ability to send very high-speed data as per the 802.11n specification. Transferring 2 Gbytes of data, the demo will also display data throughput rates of a major commercial competitive 802.11n product and the throughput of Silvus' 802.11n solution.

The second part of the demo will measure the throughput of the competitive 802.11n product versus Silvus' solution with the added introduction of interference and measured performance. This will simulate current real-world implications that exist in today's broadband wireless networks.

The third part of the demo will showcase a wireless HD video transmission by transferring a short movie that has a 720p resolution. Silvus will then introduce interference and then rebroadcast the 720p movie.

Technical Discussion: Applications that demand higher data rates, such as HDTV (720p up to 1080i) and streaming video require wireless data throughput rates of 100M bit/sec and higher. Achieving this throughput within the unlicensed channel of 20 MHz requires improvements in the physical layer (that is, the raw data rate) and the efficiency of the media access control (MAC) layer, such that the throughput is closer to the raw data rate. Silvus' discussion will focus on the challenging engineering task of enabling throughput in excess of 100M bit/sec in 20-MHz to 40-MHz of bandwidth that will be operational in a real world environment.
