SimAuthor to Provide Continued Analytical Support to U.S. Navy MFOQA Program

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - December 15, 2008) - SimAuthor, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ North America and part of its Systems Engineering Group, will continue to support Commander Naval Air Forces' Military Flight Operations Quality Assurance (MFOQA) Bridge program with its flight data analysis, visualization software, and MFOQA Subject Matter Expert (SME) Team.

Under a four-year, $5 million contract from CNAF, SimAuthor will deliver customized MFOQA applications, with the company's FlightAnalyst™ and FlightViz™ software integrated into local operating procedures by the MFOQA SME Team. Additionally, SimAuthor will continue to provide on-site application support to various Navy and Marine Corps locations in the U.S., and during deployments worldwide.

MFOQA is designed to mitigate risk factors during military flight operations by converting crew and aircraft performance data into meaningful and actionable information that can be used to improve decision-making capabilities, particularly in regard to identifying and addressing problems or risk areas prior to a mishap.

In support of CNAF's MFOQA Bridge program, the analytical and data visualization capabilities of SimAuthor's software tools will help squadron aircrews to reduce error rates, enhance pilot training, decrease maintenance and material costs, and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of flight operations.

The new contract is a continuation of SimAuthor's previous support of the Navy's MFOQA Demonstration Program. In August 2006, the Marine All-Weather Fighter-Attack Squadron 242 -- VMFA(AW)-242 -- deployed to Iraq with prototype versions of FlightAnalyst and FlightViz developed during a MFOQA demonstration project. The tools were used in combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

FlightAnalyst and FlightViz and other MFOQA applications are also in use with the T-45 MFOQA effort that supports the T45 Goshawk trainer, the U.S. Navy's main stay in advanced jet training for student naval aviators.

Currently supported CNAF MFOQA Bridge efforts are underway at Naval Air Station (NAS) Lemoore, NAS North Island, Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake, NAS Meridian, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, and Naval Surface Warfare Center Caderock Division.
