SimpleCitizen Accepted Into Y Combinator Summer 2016 Batch

Immigration Startup Will Improve Consumer Products/Marketing Strategy and Scale With New B2B Offerings

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - Jun 20, 2016) - SimpleCitizen, a platform that streamlines the U.S. immigration process for applicants, has joined the summer 2016 batch of San Francisco-based accelerator Y Combinator. The renowned seed fund has helped numerous startups such as AirBnB, DropBox, and Weebly get off the ground and subsequently become industry leaders.

At Y Combinator, SimpleCitizen executives will work with influential VCs, technologists, and market leaders to develop product offerings and marketing, including tools to help businesses, lawyers, and HR professionals process work visas.

SimpleCitizen is the fourth Utah-based startup to join a Y Combinator batch in recent years, following Weave, Vidpresso, and Podium.

"Y Combinator will help us refine our strategy for a B2B offering, which we recognize is a different animal compared to our successful B2C immigration products," said Sam Stoddard, Co-Founder and CEO of SimpleCitizen. "While working on that, we'll also have access to consumer product experts who will help us improve and scale our consumer-facing platform."

B2B goals aside, the company remains committed to reducing the complexity, confusion, time, and cost of the visa and immigration processes for everyday consumers and applicants.

"We want SimpleCitizen to become the household name when people attempt to navigate the immigration process," said Brady Stoddard, Co-Founder and CMO of SimpleCitizen. "Companies who make a Y Combinator batch have a great track record of making an even bigger difference for their customers, and that's what we're all about."

SimpleCitizen saves applicants 90 percent of time and money spent on the immigration process when compared to traditional paper applications and immigration lawyers via an online platform.

"Our technology platform and ability to navigate extensive amounts of immigration paperwork seamlessly on behalf of our clients have come a long way," said Aydé Soto, Co-Founder and CTO of SimpleCitizen. "Now is the perfect time to jump into other areas, using what we've built to scale rapidly. My team and I are excited to tackle the challenge."
