CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 25, 2014) - SingleHop, the IaaS and cloud-enabled managed hosting company, announced today that it has launched multi-factor authentication to further secure its LEAP Client Portal. Multi-factor authentication enhances security by requiring a real-time generated token code to access the client's account in addition to login credentials. The token code, which is displayed in a mobile app on the users registered device, updates every 60 seconds.
"Security professionals have long been aware that simple password-based security can be defeated easily in a number of ways. From sophisticated, algorithmic password creating to simple social engineering, its well known that passwords are only as good as the user makes them," said Ricardo Talavera Jr., Vice President of Engineering, SingleHop "The solution to this is multi-factor authentication, which requires something you know and something you have. We are offering this feature for free to all our clients as another way to give customers greater confidence to conduct business online."
SingleHop's multi-factor authentication is the first feature that was launched from Ideas.SingleHop.com, a portal where customers can suggest new features. Multi-factor authentication was one of the most requested features on SingleHop's ideas portal. The feature was launched in less than three months from initial submission to production.
