SitOnIt Seating's Build-to-Order Manufacturing Process Recognized for "Operational Excellence"

SitOnIt Seating Named to "Managing Automation" Progressive Manufacturing 50 List

CYPRESS, CA--(Marketwire - June 5, 2007) - SitOnIt Seating Inc. has been named to the Managing Automation Progressive 50 list for its program titled "Operation Excellence," during which SitOnIt Seating implemented strategic improvement of its manufacturing operations, making it a core strategic advantage of the company.

"At SitOnIt Seating, we manufacture up to 2,500 customer-designed chairs a day -- nearly 625,000 chairs a year," said Paul DeVries, chief executive officer, SitOnIt Seating. "We accomplish this with our 'Mass Customization' business model, which combines operational excellence with build-to-order manufacturing. This approach enables us to provide highly customized, high-quality products to our customers quickly and affordably. When you couple this with the industry's highest levels of complete and on-time delivery, the value proposition we offer our customers is extremely powerful."

SitOnIt Seating set out to improve the four elements most important to lean manufacturing: labor efficiency, cost of quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. By re-engineering key procedures throughout the manufacturing process, the company was able to achieve revenue growth of 24 percent and earnings growth of 58 percent over a two-year period. In addition, on-time delivery improved from 92 percent to 96 percent.

"We thank Managing Automation for its industry recognition of our 'Mass Customization' business model," said James C. Hupp, vice president, operations, SitOnIt Seating. "By combining the efficiencies of lean manufacturing with the unique customization capabilities of our build-to-order manufacturing process, we're giving customers the ability to customize chairs to fit their functional and design needs -- and still have that chair shipped within two to five days after ordering. This is the true advantage of our model."

Key processes recognized by the award included:

-- Expanded capacity of adhesive dispensing system, decreasing down time
from 28 percent to less than 5 percent
-- Re-engineered the fabric processing layout for improved flow, capacity
    and WIP control
-- Upgraded final assembly stations to improve ergonomics and increase
productivity while reducing damage during the process
-- Re-engineered plastic chair assembly department to double capacity,
improve efficiency and ergonomics, and allow for seamless build of numerous
    models
-- Redesigned the replacement part packing operation for response time
within 24 hours of receipt of sales orders

The accomplishments of Managing Automation's Progressive Manufacturing 50 will be celebrated at an exclusive award ceremony that concludes the Progressive Manufacturing Summit on June 14, 2007.
