Sky Sports App Includes New Split-Screen Technology to Watch More F1™ Action Beyond the TV

- F1™ companion experience now features split-screen technology, allowing users to simultaneously follow action from two different cameras angles

- Updated app also includes Remote Record and functionality to set show reminders

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 9, 2012) - Ahead of the 2012 FORMULA 1™ SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX this weekend, the F1™ companion experience on the Sky Sports for iPad app now includes split-screen technology, meaning Sky TV customers can watch more of the action by selecting two live camera feeds simultaneously on the same screen. Viewers can choose from several different live video feeds including a driver's camera; giving F1™ fans more control and an even more immersive F1™ experience.

David Gibbs, Director of Sky Sports Digital Media commented, "The Sky Sports for iPad app - which has already received more than half a million downloads - is yet another example of how Sky Sports continues to innovate to bring an even richer viewing experience to customers. The update to the Formula 1companion experience will allow customers to get even more out of our Formula 1coverage through innovative split-screen technology, which we also plan to introduce as part of our companion app experience for other sports including football and golf later this year."

Other new features across all sports in the update to the Sky Sports for iPad app include:

  • Sky TV Guide integration, which enables users to be able to review the next three programmes, on a particular channel and set reminders through their device, along with Remote Record functionality should users be on the move and want to record an upcoming game, race or match
  • Bespoke team pages added for cricket (county and international), and the option to select preferred teams in a favourites section

The updated Sky Sports for iPad app is available for free from the App Store on iPad or at www.itunes.com/appstore. The app is also available to non-Sky customers on a standalone basis for £4.99 per month through In-App Purchase.
