Skye Intelligence and Decawave Showcase Drones for Dynamic Outdoor Applications

Intelligent Camera and Micro-Location Leaders Join Forces to Bring Connected Lifestyle Solutions to Outdoor Sports Enthusiasts

LAS VEGAS, NV and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2016) - Decawave, specializing in precise location and connectivity applications, today announces a partnership with Skye Intelligence to develop drones with follow-me functionality for the consumer market. Featuring Decawave's micro-location technology, the drones can achieve 10-centimeter rotation

At CES, Skye Intelligence, using Decawave's chip technology for precise location, will demonstrate how drones (15-to-40 kph) can be used by people who jog, climb mountains, or bike and other activities to record or photograph and follow the user's actions. When returning from the activity, the video can be downloaded, edited and optionally made into 3D video.

Decawave offers Ultra-Wideband (UWB) wireless technology for precise location and connectivity applications that can identify the specific location of any object or person within a guaranteed location accuracy of 10 cm with greater than 99% reliability. Recently, Decawave was named the winner of Nokia's Open Innovation Challenge for its innovative micro-location technology enhancing the IoT market.

"We are excited to launch our company, technology and product with Decawave's help," said Charles Chen, CEO, Skye Intelligence. "This is a busy time for us as we run our Kickstarter campaign, roll out product in the United States and Europe and are pleased that Decawave offers a critical technology component."

"The IoT is extending beyond the home and office into the great outdoors. Athletes who are very focused on their performance are turning to drones to track progress and Decawave is proud to partner with Skye to meet the demand," says Ciaran Connell, Decawave's CEO. "Our work with Skye extends Decawave's leadership in micro-location and fosters UWB technology adoption in the consumer space."

The drones have completed the customer testing phase and are currently involved in third-party certification. They will be generally available in February 2016.

About Decawave
Decawave is a pioneering fabless semiconductor company developing a family of integrated circuit products called ScenSor, compliant to the IEEE802.15.4a standard, which can identify the specific location of any object, person or thing at very competitive cost, very low power and with a required level of precision and reliability never achieved before (+/-10cm). In addition, the data communication capability of the chip (up to 6.8Mb/s) makes it a perfect fit for IOT applications and other low-power wireless network applications.

With applications in diverse markets including factory and building automation, healthcare, ePOS and retail, robotics, warehousing, automotive and consumer, the company's flagship DW1000 chip has garnered interest from more than 2,500 firms globally.
