SkyHawks Start 2008 Season: Canadian Forces Parachute Team Kicks Off its 37th Season

TRENTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 7, 2008) - After more than 3,500 practice parachute descents this year, Canada's premier parachute demonstration team, the SkyHawks, is ready for its 37th season.

The SkyHawks will perform their renowned parabatic canopy parachute formations at air shows and other events across Canada starting in May through to October. They are looking forward to thrilling the crowds at the Calgary and Manitoba Stampedes, Canada Day, Expo Quebec, the Nova Scotia International Air Show and many other community events.

They will also be part of the Quebec City 400th anniversary celebration by performing at the Quebec City International Airshow.

"The team finished their intense training in advanced parachuting skills and rehearsed their show. We are now ready for the 2008 season," says SkyHawks Commanding Officer, Captain Angelo Manzara. "We are looking forward to meeting and talking to families across the country."

The 15-member Army team are drawn from Regular and Reserve members of the Canadian Forces. "There was a lot to learn in five weeks, but every jumper proved to be very talented and dedicated," says tandem jump master, Master Corporal Stephane D'Aragon.

The SkyHawks have performed around the world to an estimated 70 million spectators under their signature Canadian flag parachutes. Through dynamic canopy work and daring parabatics, the SkyHawks demonstrate the high standards of professionalism, physical fitness and teamwork required in the Canadian Forces.
