Skylight® Healthcare Systems and Health First Recognized for Improvements in Patient Care

Health First Reduces Readmissions and Avoids Costs Using Skylight Interactive

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - April 13, 2015) - Health First, Central Florida's only fully integrated health network, has been recognized by the Intelligent Health Association for the Most Innovative Use of Business Intelligence.

The award, which will be presented April 13 during the evening reception at HiMSS15 in Chicago, recognizes the healthcare organization that successfully used one or more technologies to analyze volumes of data to determine efficiencies that create improvements in patient care, optimizes operations or workflows, or reduces costs. Health First is being recognized for its use of Skylight Interactive®, the industry's most comprehensive patient engagement platform.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Intelligent Health Association for our work to improve health care," said Karie Ryan, RN, MS, BSN, vice president of enterprise applications and informatics and chief nursing informatics officer at Health First. "Skylight Healthcare worked closely with us to build a program using their technology that has allowed us to make substantial improvements in the coordination of care and the overall patient experience. We hope other health networks and hospitals will learn from our success and implement similar programs at their facilities to make health care better for patients across the country."

Using Skylight Interactive to identify, stratify, and communicate patient health events, Health First reduced readmissions more than 25 percent and avoided more than $170,000 in costs associated with post-discharge care coordination miscommunication. In addition, case managers at Health First have been able to more than triple the number of patients managed in a single day.

"Health First is leading the way in health care improvement," said Rick Holbrook, CTO for Skylight Healthcare Systems. "We are privileged to share this journey with them and honored to be able to deliver a technology platform that addresses the challenges in today's health care system and helps health care organizations achieve the triple aim."
