Sleep Country USA New Clothing Drive for Foster Kids Snags Increase in Donations

Obtaining More Than 3,100 Items of Clothing, Sleep Country USA's Annual Drive for Foster Children Celebrates Continued Growth

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 15, 2007 -- Each year, trees grow taller, plants grow fuller and seeds turn into flowers. The same goes for the more than 23,000 foster children in the Pacific Northwest, and this summer they've got thousands of new clothing items to help them and their families keep up with this growth. Thanks to the generous donations from individuals and businesses in the community, Sleep Country USA, the Northwest's largest seller of premium mattresses, provided local foster organizations with 3,121 items of clothing this year.

Contributions of shoes, pants, tops, new socks, and packaged undergarments in all sizes were accepted during the company's more than month-long drive to help provide foster kids with some of the key material needs they must often go without. Sleep Country USA is also hosting a new Pajama Bowl for its Portland community on May 20th (see for details) -- driven largely by the success of the same event it holds in Seattle. The company will then kick off summer with its second annual Pajama Bowl in Seattle, hoping to increase donations from the $40,000 received last year in pledges.

"Our Sleep Country Foster Kids program continues to grow in size, scope and most importantly effect," said Terry Horsley, executive vice president of marketing & merchandising, Sleep Country USA. "We are incredibly excited about the response from our communities in both Washington and Oregon, and proud to be able to provide area foster children with these seemingly simple, yet very important, items."

Individuals and businesses can help and have fun by signing up today for the company's upcoming Pajama Bowl event. Sleep Country USA will also begin collecting Outdoor Games and Sporting Equipment on June 18th, 2007 for its annual summer drive. The community can participate by donating items like hula hoops; basketballs; outdoor chalk buckets; baseball gloves, balls and bats; soccer balls; rollerblades and skates; tennis and badminton racquets; pool toys; and more at the Sleep Country USA store nearest to you. Please use the Sleep Country store locator at or call 1-888-88-SLEEP. The store hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
