Sloan and Sagansky Join Next TV Summit & Expo San Francisco as Opening Keynotes

Media Investors Added to Best-in-Industry Lineup

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 11, 2014) - NewBay Media, producer of the Next TV Summit & Expo and publisher of Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable, has announced that co-founders of Global Eagle Entertainment and Silver Eagle Acquisition Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky will be presenting the Opening Keynote at the Next TV Summit & Expo, taking place September 10-11, 2014 at the Santa Clara Marriott, Santa Clara, CA. The Next TV Summit & Expo is a high-level conference, expo and networking event that focuses on the growing digital content business, including broadcasting, technology, digital media and OTT.

Sloan, the former Chairman and CEO of MGM Studios and Sagansky, formerly President of CBS Entertainment and co-President of Sony Pictures Entertainment, will provide an analysis of the new digital platforms -- including inflight entertainment -- an examination of the explosion of international TV, content, and distribution, and a look at new business models for financing of content in their keynote presentation.

Sloan and Sagansky are true visionaries, raising over $600 million in equity over the last two years for media deals that led them to launch Global Eagle Entertainment, and then Silver Eagle Acquisition. Global Eagle Entertainment is the leading full-service platform offering both content and connectivity for the worldwide airline industry. Silver Eagle Acquisition was formed to identify and acquire media or entertainment businesses with high growth potential in the United States or internationally.

"We are thrilled that Harry and Jeff have agreed to share their experience and ideas with the audience at the Next TV Summit & Expo," states Louis Hillelson, VP/Group Publisher, NewBay Media's Television Group. "Their Opening Keynote presentation perfectly captures this year's new focus on startups and VC leaders pitching sessions."

Sloan is a successful international media investor, whose entrepreneurial spirit has been a guiding force throughout his career, helping him identify key investment opportunities with significant returns for his partners. Prior to launching Global Eagle Acquisition, Sloan was named the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MGM. During Sloan's tenure, he led MGM to revive the James Bond, Rocky, and Pink Panther franchises and created a partnership with Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema to produce three Hobbit movies. He also launched numerous MGM basic television channels in the U.S. and internationally, including MGM UK, India, Italy, Poland, and Eastern Europe. Sloan also led the MGM effort to successfully launch the Viacom-Lionsgate joint venture, US Pay TV channel EPIX in 2009. Sloan was also the founder of SBS Broadcasting and built the company into the second largest broadcasting company in Europe with TV and radio assets reaching more than 100 million people.

Sagansky is a long-time investor and veteran showbiz executive with more than 35 years of combined leadership and investment experience. He draws from his past roles as president of CBS Entertainment, CEO of Tristar Pictures and co-president of Sony Pictures Entertainment. In his role at Sony, he was in charge of worldwide television and strategic planning, overseeing the acquisition of Telemundo Network and the launch of multiple channels around the world. Sagansky is co-founder and Chairman of Hemisphere Capital Management Partners, a large scale financer of Hollywood studio tentpole motion pictures including "World War Z" and "The Smurfs." He is also a founding investor and board member of GoEuro, the fast growing travel website.
