Slow Down Says Swinton Bikes

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 20, 2010) - Swinton Bikes is urging motorcyclists to slow down after Government figures revealed that more than half of motorcyclists regularly break the speed limit.

Swinton Bikes, the UK's largest high retailers of motorcycle insurance issued the warning after Department for Transport figures showed that around 50% of motorists went above the speed limit on motorways, dual carriageways and 30mph limit roads in 2009.

The implications of being caught speeding holds massive repercussions for motorcyclists, not only does it endanger the lives of other road users but it carries penalty points and a fine.

A motorcyclist who is convicted of speeding will have conviction code SP 30 or SP50 on their licence according to the offence in question. This will have to stay on their licence for up to four years. Motorcyclists can also expect a hefty fine and a massive increase on any future motorbike insurance premiums.

Antony Aronin, Head of Swinton Bikes said, "We are urging motorcyclists to stay safe on the road by slowing their speed down especially in the winter months when road conditions are bad. Not only is speeding highly dangerous for other road users but its carries points on your licence a fine and an increase in motorcycle insurance premiums."
