Smart Card Alliance Launches International Smart Card Training and Certification Exam at CARTES 2010 in Paris

PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ--(Marketwire - October 18, 2010) - The Smart Card Alliance, as part of its Leadership, Education and Advancement Program (LEAP), today announced that its first international Certified Smart Card Industry Professional (CSCIP) preparation course and exam will be held this year at the CARTES & IDentification event in Paris, France. The certification training course and exam will take place at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center on December 6th and December 9th, respectively.

CSCIP is the smart card industry's only standardized certification program that recognizes professionals that have advanced levels of smart card industry knowledge and experience, and have passed a multi-part exam developed by leading smart card industry experts with the support of international industry associations. For CARTES, the CSCIP training documentation has been updated with content on international technology standards and global implementations to support the expansion of this international exam. The individuals that complete the classroom training and pass each section of the exam will receive a CSCIP designation. Currently there are more than 100 international LEAP members and 56 certified CSCIPs.

"After two years of success offering the CSCIP exam in North America, we received significant demand for training and certifications from individuals around the world," said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. "With smart cards being a widely adopted global technology, CSCIP is a strong credential for any individuals or organizations to have to set themselves apart as industry experts and compete on a global scale."

The Smart Card Alliance has developed nine training modules covering the body of knowledge for applicants to use to prepare for the CSCIP certification exam. The training modules available now for CSCIP international applicants to download from the Smart Card Alliance Web site are:
