JAKARTA, INDONESIA AND CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 23, 2010) - Poynt Corporation ("Poynt" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:PYN), a leading provider of mobile applications and value-added services, and PT BIMA, Poynt's reseller of email-to-SMS products in Indonesia, are pleased to announce that Smart Telecom, one of Indonesia mobile telecommunications operators has launched SMART M@IL to over 3 million customers. SMART M@IL, based on Poynt's MyInboxNow application, offers consumers the most advanced and easiest to use clientless push email service available on the market today.

SMART M@IL is an email-to-SMS service that is available in urban areas within Indonesia, including Jakarta, to Smart Telecom's prepaid and post-paid subscribers on all mobile handset models. The SMART M@IL push email service allows users to read, compose, reply and forward email messages using their own SMS-capable mobile phones. The new SMART M@IL service includes both the SMS user interface that enables users to enter simple SMS commands to retrieve, send and forward their email, and the browser interface, granting them access to their email, as well as attachments from today's most popular software programs, audio, video and photo files. The solution also provides users the ability to manage their accounts by clicking on embedded URL links. Several other enhanced features will be available in forthcoming releases.
Key features of SMART M@IL include:

  • Clientless email-to-SMS solution for basic mobile phones
  • Full email functionality enabling users to compose, read, reply, forward and delete
  • Access to account management commands such as stop, resume, list, filter and block
  • Supports up to three POP3, IMAP4 or Webmail mailboxes per device
  • Multi-access user interface for the entire service capability via SMS, Web or WAP
  • Advanced attachment capability for today's most popular software programs as well as photo, audio, and video files
  • Centralized contact management
  • Advanced personalization capability
  • Customer service web interface for subscriber management

To bring the service to market, SMART M@IL was customized to meet the needs of the Indonesian mobile user, providing language support for both Bahasa and English. Poynt will host the application as well as integrate the solution into Smart Telecom's wireless network. Subscription revenue will be shared on a sliding scale.

"Today's mobile phones offer so many ways of communicating while on the move. The SMART M@IL service provides a convenient and cost effective way for our customers to stay connected and get their email, without using a smartphone," said Sukaca Purwokardjono, Head of Product Development SmartFren. "Millions of customers will now have the ability to read and reply to their emails using their mobile at a reasonable cost. Our SMART M@IL service uses a robust platform and has the flexibility to add-in services for a more fulfilling mobile experience."

"Mobile email is no longer a luxury that is limited to the business user," said Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt. "SMART M@IL will bring push email to the consumer mass market and generate additional value added service revenue for Smart Telecom. We are excited to be partnered with Smart Telecom for this opportunity in the Indonesian market."

SMART M@IL Pricing and Availability

The SMART M@IL service is available to Smart Telecom users as a subscription service in three levels: (1) IDR 1,000 for one day; (2) IDR 5,000 for seven days; (3) IDR 10,000 for 30 days. Since the service is clientless and delivers email notifications and messages via SMS, Smart's subscribers only have to subscribe to the service using their phone via shortcode (2959) to begin receiving their POP, IMAP, or webmail messages on their mobile phones.
