(OTCQB: SMME) -- According to a report released by the Identity Theft Resource Center (IATC), as of October 2015 alone there has been a total of 606 significant data breaches exposing more than 175 million individual records in the United States.

SmartMetric uses a person's fingerprint that is stored inside a card user's credit or debit card to provide 100% identity validation prior to the card being able to be used. Using the SmartMetric ultra miniature fingerprint scanner built inside the card, the card's EMV chip is activated following the card user simply passing their finger over the biometric sensor on the card.

The SmartMetric biometric payments card is the world's first credit/debit card that uses the SmartMetric miniature fingerprint scanner built inside the credit/debit card. A person's fingerprint is used to activate the card's EMV chip. The company uses the same banking industry EMV chip that is now being used around the world. There are more than 3.4 billion chip cards issued globally with an estimated additional 1 billion EMV cards added to this global figure from the United States, adoption of the EMV chip technology for its credit and debit cards.
