SmartMetric EMV Biometric Activated Chip Card Designed to Be Interoperable With Existing Global Chip Card Payment Devices and ATMs

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 15, 2015) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB: SMME) The SmartMetric fingerprint activated and transaction verified biometric payments card uses the Global Banking Industry standard EMV chip in its payments cards. This allows the SmartMetric biometric card to work with the existing Global payments card infrastructure and does not require an additional reading device to be used by Banks and Retailers. "The card is completely interoperable with existing Point Of Sale payment chip card readers as well as EMV ATMs," said SmartMetric's President and CEO, Chaya Hendrick.

Official figures published by the international standards body EMVco. show a 1 billion increase in chip cards in circulation from 2013 to the year ending 2014. This is a 43% increase in 12 months from 2.37 billion chip cards in use in 2013 bringing the number to 3.4 billion chip cards issued by the last quarter of 2014.
