SmartMetric Overcomes Technological Hurdles to Encase Successfully a Biometric Fingerprint Scanner Inside a Credit Card, a Technological Breakthrough, Says the Company

SURFSIDE, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 16, 2007 -- SmartMetric, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SMME) -- The Company has released its new website. SmartMetric is now moving from Research & Development stage to product release and has updated its public web site to reflect the company's new focus on sales and marketing.

It has been a long and very demanding process to bring the product to the point of mass production, said the company President & CEO Mr. Colin Hendrick at the SmartMetric R&D facility in Surfside, FL today. Having created what the company believes is a world first technology has been fraught with major technological hurdles that we are glad to report have been overcome. Having micro components (150 active and passive) mounted on a circuit board as thin as a piece of paper has made the company create many new technological innovations. Using state-of-the-art and innovative silicon mounting processes has enabled us to successfully meet these component assembly challenges.

One of the final hurdles we had to overcome was encasing the micro circuitry in credit card plastic. No standard card manufacturing process existed that would allow for plastic encasing without damaging the internal electronics. The company had to do substantial innovation and develop a new card production process to encase the electronics inside a credit card sized card.

In the coming weeks SmartMetric will be announcing to the market specific details of its new SmartMetric line of in-card biometric products and the many applications for these new world first fingerprint scanning cards.
