Smartronix Awarded Contract to Supply Prime With Radio Data Adapter Cables

Supporting Special Operations Command Battlefield Air Operations Kit Program

HOLLYWOOD, MD--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - Smartronix has been awarded a contract to supply Harris Corp with 525 Radio Data Adapter (RDA™) cables for the AN/PRC117G wideband tactical radio systems in support of U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command's Battlefield Air Operations Kit Program. The RDA cable now supports radios including the PRC-117G and PRC-117F, PRC-150, PRC-152, ARC-210, ARC-231, PSC-5D, and the PRC-148. The multi-functional RDA cable is designed to simplify radio operations by allowing a computer to perform up to five different radio interface tasks using a single USB connection. This solution reduces cabling cost, weight, power requirements, and complexity by combining several existing cables into one multi-functional cable.

"The RDA cable suite will significantly increase operational capability while decreasing the physical footprint and weight required to be carried by the dismounted operator," said Steven Bishop, Director of Engineering Solutions. "Ounces equal pounds and the RDA cable is paramount in the effort to provide the war fighter lighter and leaner technology that helps to simplify combat operations."
