Smith & Associates Far East Limited Gains CCAP-101 Certification, Strengthening Quality Standards for the Asia Market

Smith Sets New Standard as First Independent Distributor to Attain CCAP-101 Certification Outside the US

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2012) - Smith & Associates, the industry leader in global electronics distribution, today announces the certification of its Hong Kong operational hub to the Components Technology Institute, Inc.'s Counterfeit Components Avoidance Program (CCAP-101). The CCAP-101 establishes a set of standard procedures across the industry for authenticating electronic components, therefore reducing the risk of counterfeit parts entering customers' supply chains.

As the first independent distributor to gain this certification for a location outside of the United States, Smith is substantiating its global focus on quality. Smith's worldwide shipping and logistics hubs (located in Houston, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam) have industry-leading in-house testing labs to ensure that all customer parts are processed with a consistently high level of quality control, and Smith's global headquarters in Houston has been certified to CCAP-101 since June of 2011. Gaining this certification for its Asian regional hub is an indicator of Smith's determination to ensure its high quality standards extend to every area of Smith's global reach.
